Wu-Tang Clan has become the first celebrity group to partner with StockX—a company that provides “high-demand consumer products” in an online stock market—for their newest charity endeavor. StockX is launching their Charity IPO initiative which will raise funds by selling exclusive, or rare merchandise to fans which will in turn directly benefit charities.
Wu-Tang’s partnership with StockX has been nicknamed C.R.E.A.M. (Charity Rules Everyone Around Me) and the funds raised by StockX will go to the Wu-Tang Foundation which supports kids from marginalized societies. The CEO of StockX, Josh Luber, noted, “With the launch of Charity IPOs we can turn one-of-a-kind and highly sought after celebrity products into real dollars that directly help those in need.”
Fans who make $10 donations have the chance to win autographed clothes and accessories from RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah and others. With this latest partnership, Wu-Tang hopes to spread their charity’s outreach while giving back to the fans as well.
“Our foundation helps those who are in communities with racial disparities. Communities plagued by violence, the lack of a proper education, unemployment, and more. We are certain that with StockX we will continue to supply support to those in need with the money we raise,” said Wu-Tang Foundation Co-Director Tareef Michael.
Last year, StockX hosted three different charitable IPO initiatives which produced over $600,000 for Houston hurricane relief, Detroit-based children’s funds, and Eminem’s Marshall Mathers Fund. The Wu-Tang/StockX IPO fund will be offering covetable prizes for Wu heads like Ghosteface’s signed Wu-Wear hoodie, Masta Killa’s worn and signed Clarks Wallabees, DJ Mathematics signed and used Traktor Z2 mixer, and lots more.
